About the role

You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the Radiological Control Office (CODE 105) of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. GS-09 PAY SCALE: 78,563 - 102,138 GS-10 PAY SCALE: 86,515 - 112,464

What you'll do

You will appraise work procedures and recommend safer methods for radiation related evolutions.,You will solve radiological control problems.,You will review work and test procedures on radioactive systems.,You will investigate accidents and resolve them.

Qualifications

GS-10 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing radiological controls for any variety complicated repair operations. Experience protecting against radioactive contamination, protecting the general public against exposure to radiation, and controlling personnel exposure to radiation. Experience determining, directing, and controlling activities of all personnel during potentially complex emergency situations. Experience overhauling and repairing nuclear powered vessels. Experience training and directing other technicians. GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience assuring the proper control of radioactive materials. Experience responding to radiological emergencies and abnormal conditions assuring the identification and proper control of radioactivity. Experience protecting against radioactive contamination and controlling personnel exposure to radiation. Experience conducting surveillance of work involving radioactive materials and radiological. Experience training less experienced technicians.
